WHAT IS OFDAXML?

Two years ago, many would have thought it impossible for the major  office furniture manufacturers and office furniture dealer software providers to sit and work together in the same room. But it happened, and out of that initial meeting, the OFDA Technology Committee formed.

Since the initial meeting, the OFDA Technology Committee has become a vital working committee with one mission; "to develop related data schema for the office furniture industry and a process for validating and maintaining those schema."

Specifically, through the work of four subcommittees; the Catalog Data; Project Header; Graphics; and Research subcommittees, the OFDA Technology Committee is on a mission to migrate from the current SIF text standard and create a new, open XML (extensible markup language) standard.
By working through the OFDA and collaborating in a neutral environment, the committee is creating the framework for the next era of data communications for the office furniture industry: OFDAXML. This new industry standard will provide a consistent way of communicating information throughout the entire order fulfillment process, from the publishing of manufacturer catalogs, to the placing and shipping of customer orders.
